After picking up photography at school in 1996, I studied and practised my craft for 6 years while going on to the Art College in Belfast and there acquiring a BA (Hons) degree in Visual Communication in 2002. After graduating, I worked as a freelance press photographer before setting up my own studio, Icon Photography, just outside Portadown in early 2006. In September 2007, I relocated the business to 92 Market Street, Tandragee, Co. Armagh. Originally specialising in photojournalism at school, I have since enjoyed the transition to portrait and wedding photography with great effect and ease; finding that, in the studio, every single element can be controlled, allowing for very dynamic modern images to be produced with relative ease. Having spent years learning whilst being influenced by the works and writings of the likes of Henri Cartier-Bresson, my influences now come largely from fashion photography, as I believe that a photographer's work will become repetitive without a constant stream of outside influences. I always aspire to make sure that every completed work I produce is in some ways superior to the previous one. I, almost obsessively, use only the very best photographic equipment, opting at present for Canon’s professional full-frame digital SLR bodies and Canon's finest professional L-series lenses, to produce the finest quality images possible.
